For the love of FILM

35mm. 120mm. Super 8mm. Polaroid.

Portrait photography services with quality ingrained.

The digital age has its advantages, but when it comes to photos that last a century or more, film wears the crown.

In the world of archival photography we see negatives as positives.

Digital hard drives are great, but in only a couple of decades the chances anyone will still have a compatible computer or cable at hand to look at your digital photos is fairly slim.

As archaic as it sounds, the best chance you have of passing down photos to future generations is always going to be in physical form, as prints and negatives. They don’t have to be in a shoebox… but we like to think it helps.

So get in touch to find out more about our film photography services and… long live film.

35mm film

By far the most common, and widely recognised format of film stock, 35mm brings a beautifully creamy, nostalgic look and grain-structure to your photos. It’s also the best bang for your buck with 36 shots per roll.

We only use the highest quality Kodak Portra (colour) and Ilford/Agfa (B&W) film stocks for our portraiture, ensuring stunning, characterful, organic feeling photos every time.

120mm film

120mm or medium format film is a step up from 35mm, producing a much larger negative and as such, sharper, clearer images.

For those looking for the highest quality images or with intentions of printing out very large, 120mm is the way to go.

Utilising the same top-of-the-line professional film stocks from Kodak and Ilford in larger rolls, 120 film photos really are the cat’s pyjamas.

Super 8mm film

Popularised in the 1960s and used throughout the latter part of the 20th century for recording everything from kids playing in the garden to weddings and birthday parties super 8 mm has an iconic look and feel.

Shooting with arguably the highest spec super 8 camera ever produced and fantastic lenses we produce super 8 motion picture that’s sharp and clear, all the while maintaining that warm and creamy, endlessly nostalgic look that we all recognise as motion picture film.

We suggest using super 8 to remember a wedding, anniversary, birthday, or more often than not as a compliment to one of our legacy videos, where we film you in your environment, in the garden, on a walk or with grandchildren etc and layer the footage in with the finial legacy video.

For our super 8mm projects we shoot on Kodak Vision 50D, 200T and 500T.

Polaroid / Instax

Polaroids and instant film has a real magic to it.

Not only do you get the beauty of real analogue film photos, instantly, there and then, but you get a physical object that was itself created at the exact same moment as the image it portrays.

When someone holds an instant photo in their hands it is, in and of itself, an artefact of the moment in time it was made. Because of this we believe it to be extra special; a real, tangible connection to a person place and time that holds memories in a very unique way.
